Lovechock: love yourself, love your chocolate!

Lovechock is a raw cacao vegan chocolate founded by Laura Joy de Nooijer in Amsterdam in 2008 out of passion for raw cacao and passion for raw food.

That same passion infuses Lovechock’s delicious line of organic raw chocolates, from 94% extra pure (perfect for use as a base in baking or desserts) to fruit-infused flavors like mulberry vanilla, pecan maca, goji orange and almond fig.

Lovechock uses only cold-ground cacao from Arriba Nacional beans, as this superior variety of bean retains an optimum amount of natural nutrients and comes from certified organic suppliers who ensure that local farmers receive a fair price for their cacao. And because the cacao is cold ground, antioxidants and “love chemicals” such as tryptophan, anandamide and phenethylamine are still present in the final chocolate.

All chocolates by Lovechock are raw, organic, vegan, dairy-free, soy-free, and gluten-free. This was a huge plus for me, as I have to also limit my soy intake, and many processed chocolates contain soy lecithin or other extracts.

I found the texture varied between bars; the goji orange reminded me more of a tablet of Mexican hot chocolate, with a slightly crunchy texture, while others like the pecan maca were smoother and creamier.

I also love the colorful package artwork and inspirational messages inside each bar , and the fact that even the packaging is compostable…

The attention to detail and dedication to a sustainable lifestyle is commendable, and the chocolate bars are the perfect size for an on-the-go snack or meal replacement.

Lovechock is available at numerous retailers including Seijo Ishii and natural grocery stores. For more information, go to https://kazetohikari.jp/.
